Virginia Literacy Act Meets Generative AI

Virginia Literacy Act Meets Generative AI

With the passage of the Virginia Literacy Act (VLA), every division is now required to develop a literacy plan, use evidence-based literacy curriculum, and provide clear communication to families.

This week we worked with the Roanoke County Public Schools Literacy Team to put these requirements into action using Claude AI. Together, we built workflows that help educators:
✅ Create individualized reading plans aligned to VALLSS and SOL data
✅ Generate parent letters that are clear, accessible, and even multilingual
✅ Analyze local data securely to monitor student growth throughout the year

The VLA is a big step forward for literacy in Virginia—and with the right AI processes in place, teachers can focus less on paperwork and more on student learning.

We’re proud to support Roanoke County as they lead the way in blending state requirements, local needs, and AI innovation.

👉 If your division is building out its VLA literacy plan and wants to explore AI-powered supports, let’s connect.

Cheers,
